FG urged to prioritize widows’ empowerment
Chairlady of Catholic Women Organization, CWO, of Queen of Apostles Catholic Parish, Shinge, Mrs. Justina John, has called on the Federal Government to give priority to widows in its economic empowerment programmes.
She made the call during the celebration of this year’s Mothers Day at the chapel of the Queen of Apostles Catholic Church, Shinge – Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State.
According to her, the call is imperative considering the pathetic condition which widows are in throughout the country. They are always at the receiving end of all family burdens like feeding, fees and rent payments, clothing of her orphan children, among others.
Consequently, the chairlady asked the Federal Government to give more priority to widows in rural communities, saying they are the mostly impoverished.
In a welcome address, Chairman of the event, Christopher Musa, expressed appreciation to the group for its strong contributions to the humanity.
