The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Umar Ahmed Immam has disclosed that there is no alternative to education in human capital development, stressing that parents and guardians must take the education of their children very seriously.

He also lamented the fall in standard of education, calling on relevant stakeholders to review the curriculum to strengthen learning process in secondary schools in the state.

Immam made this known while speaking at the closing ceremony of the maiden edition of Kabba/Bunu Inter Secondary Schools Quiz and Prize giving competition organised by a member of the state House of Assembly, Mathew Kolawole at At Augustine College Kabba, in Kabba/Bunu Local Government area of the state.

He recalled olden days, saying school debate and quiz competitions really helped many students in their studies.

He noted that this was not the same again due to drastic fall in the standard of education, stressing that quiz and debates must be revived in all secondary schools in the state.

The speaker urged the pupils to face their studies, saying that they must shun any act inimical to their way to stardom.

Meanwhile, Comprehensive High School, Oke Offin emerged the overall winner of the competition while St Samuel Seminary School, Aiyede, Wise Virgin, Kabba and St. Augustine ,Kabba followed behind in that order.

The organizer and House Majority Leader, Mathew Kolawole encouraged all participating schools and students to continue to do well in their respective roles.
He noted that he had invested over N1 million to sponsor students to higher institutions of learning at various times.
