The Benue State House of Assembly has elected Hon. Berg Afled Emberga, representing Makurdi North Constituency, as its new Speaker.
Emberga replaced Hon. Aondona Dajoh, who resigned on Sunday afternoon amid a week-long leadership crisis that rocked the Assembly.
The election took place during a sitting that began at about 4:30 p.m. and ended around 7 p.m.
