
The Osun State Police Command says it will conduct an autopsy on the body of a woman identified as Bidemi Omole, who died at her boyfriend’s apartment on her way to a church vigil.
The incident reportedly occurred on Friday around 9:35 p.m. at Oke-Esa in Esa-Oke community, Obokun Local Government Area.
Sources said Bidemi, who usually attended Friday night vigils, left home around 9 p.m. but stopped at her boyfriend’s house, where she died under unclear circumstances.
Police later arrested the boyfriend, identified simply as Yinka, after residents gathered at the house.
Command spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi confirmed the incident and said investigations are ongoing.
He said, “The death occurred on Friday. The deceased, Bidemi Omole went to her boyfriend’s house also located in Esa Oke. The boyfriend is identified as Yinka. From what the boyfriend told us, the deceased became sick after arriving at the house.
“We were also told that she was rushed to a hospital but on the way, she gave up the ghost. The suspect is already with the police. An autopsy will be conducted to unravel the cause of the death. We assure a thorough investigation of the incident.”
