
Role Summary
The Procurement Officer will be responsible for developing and leading the procurement function in a fast-growing FMCG and e-commerce company. The role requires a professional with strong industry relationships, the ability to build procurement structures from the ground up, and the foresight to integrate technology into sourcing and supplier management processes. The Procurement Officer will ensure timely, cost-effective, and quality supply of goods while driving productivity and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Procurement
- Establish and structure the procurement department to align with company growth and operational goals.
- Design and implement procurement policies, SOPs, and systems to drive accountability, cost savings, and efficiency.
- Develop strategies for sourcing raw materials, packaging, and finished goods, balancing cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
- Introduce and implement tech-driven solutions ERP, procurement software, e-marketplaces for better vendor tracking, purchase planning, and reporting.
Vendor Management & Industry Relationships
- Leverage existing industry contacts and networks to secure favorable contracts and supply agreements.
- Build, negotiate, and manage strong vendor relationships to ensure consistent supply at competitive prices.
- Continuously evaluate supplier performance quality, delivery, compliance and maintain an updated database of approved suppliers.
Operations & Productivity
- Collaborate with finance, logistics, sales, and warehouse teams to forecast demand and ensure timely procurement.
- Monitor stock levels and work closely with the supply chain team to avoid stock-outs or overstocking.
- Implement performance metrics for procurement efficiency e.g., cost savings achieved, supplier lead times, on-time deliveries.
- Conduct market research and benchmarking to stay ahead of FMCG price fluctuations, consumer trends, and supply chain risks.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical sourcing standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present procurement reports, budgets, and analyses for management decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to automate reporting and use data analytics for improved decision-making.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Procurement, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years’ relevant experience in procurement within FMCG, retail, or e-commerce sectors.
- Proven track record of vendor and supplier relationship management in the FMCG/e-commerce industry.
- Familiarity with procurement and inventory management software e.g., SAP, Oracle, Odoo, Zoho, or similar tools.

Reporting Line
The Procurement Officer will report directly to the Head of Operations / COO and work closely with Finance, Logistics, and Sales Departments.
