Ada Lluch, a far-right Catalan influencer and activist, has defended her comments on Europe and Spain after receiving criticism from left-wing groups and the Spanish mainstream media.

In a video posted on her X account on Sunday, Lluch addressed concerns about the perceived erosion of European identity and public safety in her home country.

Lluch said she spoke out as a European woman worried about “the life of safety, degradation and invasion of my home country of Spain.”

“It’s always quite shocking for me to hear all the various things that the media uses to describe people like us,” she said.

She asserted that her views have been mischaracterised, stressing that she is not a fascist, xenophobic, or agitator for peacefully expressing her opinions.

“I am not a fascist for wanting my country to remain Christian. I am not xenophobic for wanting the streets in my city to be safe,” she said. “I am not an agitator for peacefully speaking my mind. And I am surely not a bad person for wanting Europe to remain European.”

The influencer noted that she is not a politician but began speaking publicly about European identity three years ago after feeling that her birthplace had lost its cultural identity.

She described this realisation as both frustrating and saddening, motivating her to speak out.

“And that made me furious, made me sad and just ignited a frustration within me that did not allow me to remain silent and continue like other countries were in danger,” she said.

During the video, Lluch drew parallels with demonstrations in London, emphasising a shared desire among Europeans for safety, despite diverse backgrounds.

“Today, in this conference, the same way that happened in the United Kingdom march in London, we all come from diverse backgrounds. But we all share one thing in common. We want our lives to be safe,” she said.
