This was after the state was shortchanged of its equity at the multi-billion naira investment by the Ganduje-led administration.

The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has launched a fresh investigation into an alleged diversion of over N4billion of the state fund under the administration of former governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, to Dala Inland Dry Port.

This was after the state was shortchanged of its equity at the multi-billion naira investment by the Ganduje-led administration.

The over N4billion was allegedly utilised in the award of a contract to provide infrastructure for the inland port project, shortly after the 20 percent equity of Kano State at the company had been allegedly converted to Ganduje’s family in the year 2020.

The equity transfer effectively edged Kano State out of the project’s ownership and positioned Ganduje’s children as directors and shareholders.

It was gathered that by the time the contract was awarded, the state was no longer a co-owner of the port.

The anti-graft agency investigation into the over N4 billion alleged fund diversion was initiated based on petitions received by the commission against the misappropriation.

Confirming the development to journalists on Sunday, the Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), Saidu Yahya, said investigation into the alleged diversion of the state fund into the company had reached a top level and almost concluded.

”Yes, we received petitions from the public on the alleged over N4bn Kano State fund diverted into the Dala Inland Dry Port by the immediate past administration of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje,” he said.

‘’So far, persons of interest have been invited; one of them was arrested and later released on bail, after giving vital information, while investigation revealed that one of the parties is now in Yola, Adamawa State.”

He added that the matter would soon be charged to court after investigation as a prima facie case had been established.
