Boko Haram Fighters Storm Adamawa Community, Abduct Teenage Boy

Azura Ayuba, an 18-year-old boy was abducted by the Boko Haram terrorists in Kopre village, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State on Thursday.

He and another boy, Augustine, 17, reportedly went into the bush at about 1:25pm to fetch firewood when they encountered the insurgents.

Augustine managed to escape but Ayuba was taken away.

A security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, said, “The insurgents, numbering about 20, abducted the two boys but Augustine managed to escape and returned home, while Ayuba was taken away.”

He added, “On receipt of the report, a joint task force troops of the Operation HADIN KAI, and members of the Civilian JTF, launched a manhunt to rescue the victim.”

Makama noted that the abduction highlights the ongoing threat of Boko Haram in remote communities, urging residents to remain alert and cooperate with security forces.

Security operatives have intensified patrols in and around Kopre village to track the movements of the abductors and prevent further incidents.

Residents of the village are reportedly living in fear, avoiding trips to the bush alone, especially during daylight hours.

Local authorities and community leaders have called for an increased security presence, stressing the need for swift action to ensure the safe return of Azura Ayuba.

Officials said that timely intelligence and prompt response from security agencies have in the past prevented similar abduction attempts in nearby villages.

Makama emphasised, “Community cooperation remains crucial in the fight against insurgency; sharing timely information can save lives and prevent future abductions.”

The abduction has reignited discussions on improving collaboration between communities and security agencies in Adamawa State.

Residents have appealed to both federal and state governments to provide more security personnel and modern surveillance equipment.

Military and Civilian JTF personnel have mobilised in the area, conducting searches and setting up checkpoints to locate Ayuba

Authorities have reassured the public that every measure is being taken to secure the boy’s safe return.

The Adamawa State government condemned the incident, reiterating its commitment to the safety and protection of all citizens.

Security forces continue to maintain vigilance across the local government area, ensuring rapid response to any suspicious activity.
