Osun, Borno, Lagos Lead As Electoral Commission INEC Records 6.8million Pre-Registrants

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that a total of 6,856,979 Nigerians have so far pre-registered online in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise as of Week 7, covering the period between September 29 and October 5, 2025.

In its latest weekly report, the commission stated that female registrants accounted for 3,581,562, representing 52.23 percent of the total figure, while male registrants numbered 3,275,417, representing 47.77 percent. 

Youths aged between 18 and 34 years continued to dominate the process, with 4,689,637 pre-registrants recorded, while students made up 1,728,384 of the total figure. 

In addition, persons with disabilities (PWDs) accounted for 154,479 of those who participated in the online pre-registration.

INEC also released data on completed online and physical registration covering Week 6, between September 29 and October 3, 2025. 

The report showed that a total of 1,216,048 Nigerians completed their registration during the period. 

Of this number, 658,766 completed their registration online, while 557,282 completed theirs physically at various INEC registration centres across the country.

According to the report, women again led the participation rate in completed registration, with 675,222, representing 55.53 percent of the total, while men accounted for 540,826 or 44.47 percent. 

Youths between the ages of 18 and 34 remained the dominant group, recording 897,676 of the total figure. 

Students represented 424,126, while persons with disabilities who completed the process numbered 17,450.

The commission also listed the top-performing states in the CVR process. 

Osun State emerged with the highest number of completed online and physical registrations, recording 122,399. 

Lagos followed with 68,448, while Borno recorded 67,224. Sokoto and Kogi states followed closely with 59,437 and 50,135 completed registrations respectively.

In terms of pre-registration, Borno State topped the chart with 745,160 registrants, followed by Osun with 615,639. Lagos came next with 574,325, while Kebbi and Kaduna recorded 525,108 and 429,886 respectively.

INEC noted that the continuous voter registration exercise remains open to eligible Nigerians who are yet to register, those who have changed residence, and voters who need to update or correct their details before the next general election cycle.
