
Job Summary:
Analyze all retail credit proposals in order to carry out risk identification, risk measurement and risk mitigation with a view to creating performing assets and assuring profitable lending for the Bank.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the full range of managerial duties for the loan review, compliance, Collections, and credit analysis functions including adherence to policies and practices of the Bank and applicable regulatory and governmental agencies such as CBN, NDIC.
- Responsible for implementing a system of credit analysis and quality assurance for loans made as required by Board directives; assign ratings as needed in conjunction with loan loss reserve analysis.
- Periodically examine loan documentation and files before and after credit approvals for assurance of credit and collateral documentation, regulatory compliance, and loan policy conformance; review technical exceptions and deficiencies; maintain reports of continued non-performing loans and exceptions to the Credit Committee.
- Prepare written analysis on all large ticket transactions aggregate lending vs. indebtedness for individual obligators, obligors in specific industry, complex loans and weak loans.
- Identify problem loans, review problem loans with the appropriate committee on a periodic basis.
- Discuss status of problem loans with the key stakeholders and make recommendations regarding the future credit information needs; identify loans meeting non-accrual or charge-off criteria.
- Represent the Bank on various industry related discussions and policy formulation within the financial service industry ensuring the Bank’s interest is protected.
Qualifications, Competency & Skills Required:
Qualification:
- Minimum of First Degree in a numerate or business-related discipline.
- Relevant professional certifications such as Chartered Financial Analyst CFA, Professional Risk Manager PRM, Financial Risk Manager FRM etc. and/or a second degree are added advantages.
Competency:
- Knowledge of financial, accounting and auditing processes.
- Knowledge of managerial accounting

- Knowledge of the banking industry.
- Knowledge of a Mortgage Bank’s structure, operations, policies and procedures.
