Aiyedatiwa celebrates ex-commissioner at 70
Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has lauded the unwavering support of former Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Prince Solagbade Amodeni, during the period of his impeachment saga.
Speaking on Friday at a reception in honour of Amodeni to mark his 70th birthday and the commissioning of the Golden Garden Event Centre and Vaults in Akure, the Ondo State capital, the governor described the former commissioner as a loyal and steadfast ally who remained resolute in the face of political turbulence.
Aiyedatiwa said Amodeni stood by him when many chose to walk away, stressing that the ex-commissioner believed in truth and justice.
“I didn’t invite him or ask for his support, but he took it upon himself to rally people and issue press statements to defend the truth, and that helped to change public perception of what really happened,” said.
The governor appreciated the APC stalwart for his solidarity during the political trials, emphasizing that politics should be anchored on principles and trust, not opportunism or betrayal.
Aiyedatiwa described Prince Amodeni as a man of courage, principle, and enterprise who has contributed immensely to governance and private enterprise in the state.
He recalled their first encounter during the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s campaign, describing Amodeni as “a man of conviction.”
