Lagos Mainland Local Government has honoured a University of Lagos student, Odekonle Adewale, as Day Chair, to mark International Youth Day.
Also honoured are Miss Odubanjo (Vice Chair), Folawiyo Farook (Chief of Staff) and Miss Ayetosho Oluwatoyin (Council Leader).
Council Chair, Kolawole Emilagba, represented by his Vice Chairman, Moshood Momoh, said the idea was conceived by APC Youth Ambassador (Lagos Mainland chapter), Emilagba Bisoye, to commemorate the day and celebrate exceptional youths.
“We’re here to celebrate Odekonle Adewale, a 200-level Science Education student of University of Lagos, as a Day Chair of Lagos Mainland Local Government on this day: August 14, due to his 4.37 CGPA, and to encourage him to do more. And knowing my chair, I know the honour will also come with financial reward,” he said.
Odekonle expressed his gratitude to the council chairman, APC youth leader, and council officers for the honour.
“I want to thank the council . Aside from this, the award has also opened a lot of other connections for me, as I have been meeting a lot of elite people.”
Odekonle, who thanked his mum, appealed to the council to make the programme continuous to encourage others.
Bisoye said he came up with the programme to mark the day and to encourage youths to double up efforts in whatever they are doing.
