The Nigerian Humanitarian Awards & Magazine 2025, held at the prestigious Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, witnessed a moving moment of truth as High Chief Darlington Nwabunike (KSC), fondly called Ichie Eze Nwakaibeya Ogbabalu Aku n’Anwu Ojoto, took to the podium to accept the Humanitarian Lifetime Impact Award.

In his acceptance speech, Sir Darlington gave an impassioned call to action: “Education, healthcare, and dignity are rights, not privileges.

“Every child deserves the chance to learn, every mother deserves access to quality healthcare, and every human being deserves to live with dignity.

“These are not favours that leaders give; they are fundamental rights that society must protect.”

He further stressed that leadership should be measured not by wealth or power, but by the number of lives uplifted.

“I have always believed that the greatest wealth a man can acquire is the number of lives he has touched.

“Leadership is not about titles—it is about service. If I am remembered for anything, let it be that I gave hope where there was despair, light where there was darkness, and opportunity where there was limitation.”

Mr. Anabueze further reaffirmed the vision of the Nigerian Humanitarian Awards & Magazine: “We created this platform to honour men and women who make service to humanity their life’s mission.

“Tonight, we are reminded that the true measure of greatness is in how much you give, not how much you gain. Sir Darlington has shown us that indeed, humanity is the greatest service anyone can render.”

The ceremony drew humanitarian leaders, policymakers, diplomats, and young changemakers from across Nigeria and beyond. It was an evening that highlighted the unifying truth that service to humanity remains the highest calling of leadership.
