Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has assured support for Miss Comfort Emmanson, the Ibom Air passenger whose confrontation with airline crew earlier this month drew national attention.
Speaking during a reception in his home local government of Nsit Ubium on Saturday, Eno said both Emmanson and Ibom Air “belong to Akwa Ibom State and must be supported.”
He, however, did not disclose the nature of the assistance to be provided.
Emmanson, who hails from the state, was initially charged to court and remanded before being pardoned by Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo.
The incident left her reportedly traumatized, with claims that she has been struggling to interact with people since the episode.
Governor Eno urged Akwa Ibom residents not to apportion blame, describing the matter as a “small mistake” between two parties from the same state.
He stressed the importance of supporting Ibom Air, a wholly state-owned airline, as a symbol of Akwa Ibom pride and investment.
“We will continue to support our flagship airline, Ibom Air. If there was any crisis, we will resolve it because both parties are ours. The lady is our daughter,” he said.
