Former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore, has officially declared his interest in the 2026 Osun State governorship race and commenced consultations with party stakeholders ahead of the primary election.
Omisore began his mobilisation efforts from the Ijesa North and South Federal Constituencies, reaffirming his vision for a prosperous Osun State that can thrive without dependence on federal allocations.
He urged grassroots members, party faithful, and political leaders to support his ambition to emerge as the APC flagbearer during the primaries slated for November or December 2025.
The former deputy governor of Osun State emphasised his commitment to consensus-building, noting that his final decision would be guided by feedback from grassroots engagement and stakeholder alignment.
He said, This is not about ambition alone; it is about collective reasoning and strategy. Osun needs common sense now more than ever. We cannot afford to field a candidate who merely participates—we must present a candidate who can win.”
Earlier, former Commissioner for Education, Hon. Folorunso Bamisayemi stated that Senator Omisore played a decisive role as APC national secretary which averted internal crisis and ensured the emergence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s 2023 presidential candidate.
“Senator Omisore is based in Ife town, which is one of the four largest voting blocs in Osun. He sustained financial and strategic support for the APC, including backing of reinstated local government officials across Osun State.”
Similarly, Chairman of Ilesa East Council, Hon. Olanrewaju Balogun, described the Omisore’s ambition as a unity agenda.
