Osun supermarket staff remanded for allegedly stealing N8.9m sales proceed to bet

An Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo on Tuesday remanded 25-year-old Yusuf Ibrahim for allegedly stealing N8.9million sales proceed to stake betting. 

Ibrahim was dragged before the court with friends; Azeez Olaide(23) and Ojo Tolulope on eight count bordering on conspiracy, forgery and stealing. 

The Police prosecutor, Babatunde Oluokun told the court that the trio conspired to commit the offense on 16th January 2024 at Lead Ware House, Ofatedo, Osogbo contrary to Section 516 of the Criminal Code cap 34 Vol II, Law of Osun State Nigeria 2002. 

He explained Ibrahim, being an inventory officer, did fraudulently produce and forge invoice document on his mobile phone (Samsung 29) with pretense to obtain money from one Musbau Olamilekan m’ as the CEO of Lead WARE HOUSE and supermarket. 

He noted that the offences contravened Sections 467, 419, 390(9) and 383(1) of the Criminal Code cap 34 Vol II, Law of Osun State Nigeria 2002.

However, the trio pleaded not guilty to the charged pressed against them. 

Ibrahim told the court that he used the entire sum of the money to stake betting. 

The counsel to the defendants, Barrister Z.T Apo made an oral bail application that the accused person should be admitted to bail in the most liberal terms. 

However, the presiding Magistrate, Dr Olusegun Ayilara denied the oral bail application, demanded for formal bail application and ordered that they should be remanded in prison. 

He adjourned the matter to September 29th 2025 for mention.
